Supporting a Good Cause to Empower At-Risk Youths

Your Commercial is so proud to be able to provide some financial assistance to an extremely worthwhile local cause which provides assistance to our vulnerable youth.

Kyle Britto and Melanie Scott-Power of Your Commercial visited the St Vincent de Paul Society in Spring Hill today to congratulate them on qualifying for a grant through the REA Advantage Community Grants Program for their Sense Youth Mentoring Program which Kyle applied for on their behalf earlier this year.

The REA Group provides local Estate Agents an opportunity once a year to apply for the program. The Advantage Community Grants Program aims to support community groups, sporting organisations and other charitable causes close to their client’s hearts.

Kyle Britto, Leasing Executive at Your Commercial, has been volunteering as a Senior Leader for the Sense Youth Mentoring Program for the past few years.

Sense Youth Mentoring is designed to be a program for empowering at-risk youths through valuable mentoring, equipping them with tangible skills such as cooking and public speaking, helping with personal development such as goal setting and life skills, as well as fun activities to to allow the mentee to have experiences they often wouldn't get outside of the program, such as going for a hike or bowling. The program is for youths aged 14-17.

The program creates a vibrant community and support network through monthly Sunday outings where teenagers can feel safe and valued.

“There is a huge benefit in allowing kids that are in tough situations to just be kids,” Kyle Britto said.

“These kids have come from a variety of different at-risk situations such as being heavily bullied at school, or being in domestic violence situations.”

“It's amazing to watch them come into the program and quickly realise their potential and become incredibly confident after only a few Sense days.”

The past two years have been challenging for many industries, including the not-for-profit sector. They've had to deal with falling donations and in many cases, unprecedented demand for their services.

"We are so blessed to have such amazing organisations within our community and such dedicated individuals such as Daniel and Kyle who provide assistance to our local youth," said Melanie Scott-Power.

"Kyle is such an inspiration, volunteering his time with such compassion and enthusiasm, which is having such a positive effect on so many vulnerable youth who benefit from a few hours of respite a week through this program."

Kyle recognised the need for funding within the program, and quickly nominated St Vincent de Paul Society, or 'Vinnies' as it is widely known, to receive the grant provided by The REA Group.

This program is a volunteer based program, and is always in need of volunteers. If you would like to find out if you’re eligible to volunteer, click here. If you would like to make a donation to the Sense Mentoring Program, click here.
